Texas A&M is the newest member of the national championship club. In December 2025 the Aggies went through three No. 1 seeds in the NCAA tournament (Nebraska, Pitt, and Kentucky) and swept Kentucky in Kansas City for the program’s first NCAA title, in only its first-ever Final Four. Head coach Jamie Morrison did it in his third season. This fall is the title defense, and it’s been a bumpier ride.

This is an editorial program profile, not a live ranking, seed projection, or recruiting board. Polls, schedules, and TV windows move every week, so check the official pages before you plan a trip.

The 2025 title run

Every match below comes from Morrison’s official bio and the school’s title-match recap. The Aggies came in as the No. 3 seed in the Lincoln Regional.

Round Opponent Site Result
First round Campbell Reed Arena W 3–0
Second round TCU Reed Arena W 3–1

Title match Kentucky (No. 1 seed) T-Mobile Center, Kansas City W 3–0 (26–24, 25–15, 25–18)

A few things make that bracket stand out:

For where this sits in the sport’s history, see the Final Four history primer. The only other team to win the title as an SEC member is Kentucky, in 2020.

Before Morrison

The year-by-year results go back to 1975. The highlights:

Then came a gap: no NCAA tournament from 2020 through 2022. Morrison’s first team ended it in 2023.

Jamie Morrison

Morrison came to College Station with a long international résumé. His bio lists him as part of three U.S. Olympic medal staffs (men’s gold in 2008, women’s silver in 2012 and bronze in 2016), head coach of the Netherlands women’s national team (2017–19), and head coach of the U.S. U19 women’s team, which is 24–0 under him with a 2023 world title. He’s also coached in college at UC Santa Barbara, USC, Concordia, UC Irvine, and Texas.

The crowds have grown right along with the wins. Per the school, A&M averaged a record 4,529 fans in 2025, first in the SEC, and went 12–1 at home. The 2026 season opened with 2,238 season tickets sold, up 97.5% from 2025, per the ticket announcement.

Here’s the volleyball attendance top five from the Reed Arena facility page:

9,211 Wisconsin Sept. 11, 2026
6,822 Texas Sept. 17, 2021
6,464 Florida Oct. 16, 2026

Notice who’s on that list three times. The record crowd saw A&M beat No. 2 Texas in five sets on Halloween night. This year’s meeting is Nov. 1 at Gregory Gym in Austin, billed as the Lone Star Showdown and scheduled for ABC.

Oct. 16 No. 7 Florida Reed Arena L 1–3

The schedule is the story. Florida was already the eighth ranked opponent on A&M’s slate, per the school’s preview, and the Stanford upset (a season-best .344 hitting night) showed the ceiling. The Aggies then won six straight before a three-match slide. Friday’s loss to Florida (19–25, 25–23, 17–25, 16–25) drew 6,464 fans, the fifth-largest crowd in program history, per the match recap. Florida leads the all-time series, which stood at 22–3 before Friday.

What’s next (subject to change, times CT): Auburn at Reed Arena on Senior Day (Sun. Oct. 18, noon), then at Georgia (Oct. 23), at No. 4 Kentucky in a title-match rematch on ABC (Sun. Oct. 25, noon), Tennessee at home (Oct. 30), at Texas (Sun. Nov. 1, noon, ABC), at Vanderbilt (Nov. 6), at Missouri (Nov. 8), and LSU (Nov. 13) and Ole Miss (Nov. 15) at home. The schedule then lists the SEC Tournament, Nov. 20–24, in Savannah, Ga., and the NCAA Championship, which ends Dec. 17–19 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

By the numbers

These come from our Daily Desk pull of NCAA.com statistics, through games of Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, so they don’t include Friday’s Florida match.

Team stat Texas A&M Where that sits
Hitting % .236 85th of 343 DI teams in our pull
Opponent hitting % .177 44th
Hitting differential +.059 57th
Kills per set 13.66 38th
Blocks per set 2.55 41st
Aces 86 in 62 sets (1.39 per set)
Player Pos. Line
Kyndal Stowers OH, Sr. 192 kills, 4.36 kills per set (18th nationally), .254 hitting, 20 aces
Natalie Ring OH, 5th 130 kills, 2.95 kills per set
Kirra Musgrove S, So. 547 assists, 9.12 per set
Gabi Rodriguez L/DS, Fr. 225 digs, 3.63 per set

In plain terms, this is a defense-first team that hasn’t found a steady offense yet. Holding opponents to .177 is top-50 work, and the block is still a strength. But a .236 hitting percentage sits in the middle of the pack, and Stowers is carrying a big load, about 23% of the team’s kills even though she’s appeared in 44 of A&M’s 62 sets in our pull. The school’s Florida preview points to the serve as a bright spot: 1.67 aces per set in the first five SEC matches, second in the league.

In our side-out vs. point-scoring breakdown through Oct. 15, Texas A&M ranked 12th in DI in side-out percentage (64.0%) and won 43.6% of its own serves. New to these numbers? Start with hitting percentage, opponent hitting % and differential, and kill share.

Why Texas A&M matters to fans

  1. Proof the title club isn’t closed. A program that hadn’t reached an Elite Eight since 2001 won it all in Morrison’s third year. That’s a big deal for every team chasing the blue bloods. See our best programs overview.
  2. A home crowd that’s become a real advantage. A&M went 12–1 at Reed in 2025 and is 8–2 there this fall, with two of its five biggest crowds ever coming this fall.
  3. The SEC is loaded. Florida, Kentucky, Texas, and the rest make the league schedule a weekly test. See our conferences guide.
  4. Rivalries with stakes. The Texas matches have produced the three biggest crowds in program history, and the Oct. 25 trip to Kentucky is a rematch of last December’s final.

How recruits and parents should use this page

  1. Fit over banners. A national title doesn’t create a roster spot at your position this cycle. Start with the recruiting timeline and Eligibility Center steps.
  2. Use the official channels. Start from the Texas A&M volleyball hub, not third-party DMs promising to “get you seen.” Our how to email a college coach guide covers the first message.
  3. Know the roster math. The 2026 roster lists 16 players. DI rosters at opt-in schools are capped at 18; our walk-on guide and scholarship types guide explain what that means.
  4. Portal reality. Five players on this year’s roster list a previous college, including Stowers (Baylor), Ring (Marquette), Eliza Sharp (Boise State), Kaia Castle (Ohio State), and Lily Nicholson (Florida State). See the transfer portal guide.
  5. Ask about development. Freshman libero Gabi Rodriguez has reached double-digit digs in 15 of her first 17 matches, per the school. Ask any staff how they’ve brought along young players at your position.
