Nebraska Volleyball: The Numbers
Fifteen and oh. Four and oh in the Big Ten. That is the live card per the Huskers.com schedule — after sweeping Penn State and Maryland (25-13, 25-20, 25-15).
The deeper team identity below comes from the ncaa.com Daily Desk through games Thursday, Oct 1, 2026. On that sheet Nebraska was still 14-0. About four days of lag as of Mon Oct 5. When we mix live results with desk rates, we say so. Crowd numbers below are Athletics cites only.

Crowd note (Athletics only)
Maryland’s XFINITY Center hit 15,127 on Oct 3 — a Terps program record (was 13,071 vs Nebraska in 2024) and the third-highest college volleyball attendance this season, per Maryland Athletics. Huskers.com adds that since 2023 Nebraska has been part of 25 venue attendance records, five this season.
Home anchors, same Athletics lane: Memorial Stadium Volleyball Day 92,003 (Aug 30, 2023); John Cook Arena / Devaney post-reno 10,497 (Sept 2026 openers). Last official Athletics sellout milestone was the 350th consecutive regular-season sellout on Nov 20, 2025 — we are not inventing a current streak total.
No odds. No invented lines. Only five Husker player lines sit on the ncaa.com leaders slice we use here — we do not invent the rest of the roster.
Team identity (ncaa.com through Oct 1)
Every number in this block: Daily Desk through games Thursday, Oct 1, 2026.
| Metric | Nebraska | National rank |
|---|---|---|
| Hit% | .326 | 2 |
| Opp Hit% | .089 | 1 |
| Hitting differential | +.237 | — (Hit% − Opp Hit%) |
| Kills / Errors / Attacks | 618 / 188 / 1318 | — |
| Sets | 45 | — |
| Assists | 579 | — |
| Aces (per set) | 88 (1.96/S) | 27 |
| Digs (per set) | 558 (12.4/S) | 289 |
| Blocks (per set) | 131 (2.91/S) | 7 |
| Kills/set | 13.73 | 30 |
| Attacks/set | 29.29 | 341 (fewest-swings band) |
| Kill% / Err% | .469 / .143 | K/TA and E/TA |
| Ast/kill ratio | 0.937 | 579 assists / 618 kills |
| Opp K / E / TA | 422 / 298 / 1394 | — |
How those rates are built from the same totals:
- Kill% = K / TA = 618 / 1318 = .469
- Err% = E / TA = 188 / 1318 = .143
- Hit% = (K − E) / TA = (618 − 188) / 1318 = .326
- Hit Diff = Hit% − Opp Hit% = .326 − .089 = .237
What the numbers are saying
Hitting differential is the fingerprint
Hit Diff = .326 − .089 = .237 (through Oct 1).
One glance: how well Nebraska swings and how thoroughly it smothers the other side. They are not just scoring. They are erasing swings.
Opp Hit% #1 — and the digs paradox
Pair Opp Hit% .089 (rank 1) with blocks/set 2.91 (rank 7) and digs/set 12.4 (rank 289).
An interpretation, not a proof: elite serve and block pressure can reduce dig opportunities because balls die at the net or never get attacked cleanly. Fewer digs does not automatically mean soft defense when opponents are hitting at a historic low.
Efficiency over volume
Attacks/set 29.29 ranks 341st — the fewest-swings band — while Hit% is #2 nationally. They do not need volume. Every swing looks like a decision.
Middles terminating — Jackson + Ogbechie
From ncaa.com leader lines only (incomplete roster — we do not invent missing outsides or rightsides):
| Player | Line | Built from desk totals |
|---|---|---|
| Andi Jackson MB | 103 K, 19 E, 167 TA → Hit% .503; 53 blocks, 1.36 B/S, 2.641 K/S | Kill% = 103/167 = .617; Err% = 19/167 = .114; Hit% = (103−19)/167 = .503 |
| Manaia Ogbechie MB | 89 K, 21 E, 159 TA → Hit% .428; 50 blocks, 1.25 B/S | Kill% = 89/159 = .560; Err% = 21/159 = .132; Hit% = (89−21)/159 = .428 |
| Combined block contacts | 103 (53+50) | — |
Pin the middle, punish the tip — that is the story these rates tell. Opponent out-of-system splits are not on the public leaders sheet we use, so that piece stays TBD.
Setter cleanliness — assists to kills
Ast/kill = 579 / 618 = 0.937. Assists track sets that become kills; a ratio near 1 means most kills are coming from set balls rather than freeballs and overpasses — with the usual caveats about how crews score those. Bergen Reilly’s leader line: 422 assists, 10.82 A/S through 39 sets on that line.
Serve pressure, loud and quiet
1.96 aces/set (rank 27) next to Opp Hit% #1. Aces are the highlight clip. The quieter win is forcing poor passes that feed the block.
Wisconsin week (same desk cut)
Same freshness for both teams — through Oct 1:
| Team (through Oct 1) | W-L | Hit% (rank) | Opp Hit% (rank) | Hit Diff | Blocks/S (rank) | Digs/S (rank) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nebraska | 14-0 | .326 (2) | .089 (1) | +.237 | 2.91 (7) | 12.4 (289) |
| Wisconsin | 9-4 | .257 (49) | .224 (238) | +.033 | rank 207 | rank 44 |
Nebraska Diff +.237 vs Wisconsin +.033 through Oct 1 — the gap is mostly Nebraska’s Opp Hit% (.089) vs Wisconsin allowing .224. These rates predate Nebraska’s Maryland match.
Indiana and recent Big Ten context (same desk)
| Team (through Oct 1) | W-L | Hit% | Opp Hit% | Hit Diff |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Indiana | 9-3 | .263 (40) | .212 (183) | +.051 |
| Penn State | 9-4 | .245 | .188 | +.057 |
| Maryland | 11-3 | .306 (7) | .184 | +.122 |
National contrast on the same sheet: Pittsburgh 12-0, Hit .328 (rank 1), Opp .163, Diff +.165 — a Diff built more on elite Hit% than Nebraska’s historic deny. A reading tool, not a prophecy.
Players on the leaders sheet
Only these five Husker lines exist in the Oct 1 desk leaders merge. Missing teammates are missing — not invented.
| Player | Pos | Desk line (through Oct 1) |
|---|---|---|
| Harper Murray | OH | 135 kills, 3.21 K/S |
| Andi Jackson | MB | 103 K / 19 E / 167 TA → .503; 53 blocks |
| Manaia Ogbechie | MB | 89 K / 21 E / 159 TA → .428; 50 blocks |
| Bergen Reilly | S | 422 assists, 10.82 A/S (39 sets on that line) |
| Olivia Mauch | L/DS | 146 digs, 3.244 D/S |

- Middles terminating — Jackson .503 / Ogbechie .428 + 103 combined block contacts.
- Ast/kill .937 — clean set-to-kill fingerprint (caveats attached).
